31 October: The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) launched a three-day Career Carnival in the D.H. Lawrence Auditorium, enabling students to have a deeper understanding of their own capabilities and helping them to make a better career plan.
The event offered a series of activities and games and attracted lots of students to participate. “As an extension of the career planning course, the Career Carnival provides students with an interactive platform that helps them experience the career planning process and raise their awareness of career planning,” said Rejoyce Wang, Senior Manager of UNNC Careers and Employability Service.
Yutong Sun, a Year one student of Finance, Accounting and Management, agreed after experiencing every game. “As a Year one student, I don’t have a clear scheme about my future to begin with. Through these activities, I have a better understanding of my abilities and know where I need to improve. I will enhance my communication skills and make an effort to get hired in an industry I am interested in,” she said.
Meanwhile, the recruitment presentations of various renowned companies for the Class of 2023 are also in full swing. Fortune 500 and well-known companies including P&G, Deloitte, Geely Group, Unilever, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Bank of China, L’Oreal, Bilibili, NIO, and Xiaomi Corporation came to UNNC to communicate with students face-to-face, and have attracted over 3400 participating students.
Kenneth Law, Financial Advisory Partner of Deloitte – which joins recruitment presentations of UNNC every year – was very impressed by UNNC students. “As a university without borders, the international atmosphere at UNNC matches well with the values we hold at Deloitte. The international outlook and critical thinking skills that UNNC students demonstrate in their work are very much in demand by companies today,” he said.
This year, UNNC has further strengthened its strategic cooperation with well-known enterprises to provide a convenient and accurate platform for enterprises and students. Approximately 850 famous domestic and foreign companies, including Accenture, Lenovo, Mondelēz, Hikvision, Ernst & Young, Huawei, Xiaomi, Tesla, Bilibili, and ByteDance, have registered on the UNNC employment information platform for long-term cooperation.
Besides, UNNC also enhances students’ employability through diverse high-quality internship services such as job fairs and internship competitions, and the Summer Placement Programme. For undergraduates aiming for further studies, the university also offers further education application courses, offline one-on-one guidance, and alumni and senior sharing sessions to help students improve their competitiveness.
In addition, career guidance services comprehensively cover each grade and each student, which can effectively link the resources of teachers, companies, and alumni inside and outside the university, forming a joint platform for career guidance, and developing both online and offline quality courses, including professional channels such as career planning, self-exploration, industry occupations, and internships in all grades and majors in accordance with their aptitude. In recent years, with an improved career guidance service system, UNNC has delivered nearly 20,000 undergraduates, masters and doctoral graduates to society, whose critical thinking, cultural adaptability, language skills and teamwork are highly admired by leading companies and institutions around the world.
